Outlander celebrates 7 years!
Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ, Sassenachs! Where has the time gone? I can’t believe we’re already celebrating seven years of Outlander.
On Aug. 9, 2014, our lives were changed forever when our favorite show premiered and captured all of our hearts. The history, drama, and romance all came together into this wonderful story and we’ve been on quite the journey ever since.
I have to say as a show-first fan, starting out in Scotland in Season 1, I never would have thought we’d end up all the way at Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina by Season 5. But that’s the beauty of this show, isn’t it? The story moves so quickly (courtesy of Diana Gabaldon’s brilliant mind of course). But because television shows have limited time, it’s even faster. It’s been a rollercoaster from the start.
Sam Heughan has said Outlander Season 1 is his favorite and I definitely have to agree. I think many of you out there share the same opinion. There’s just something special about the beginning of a story, how Jamie and Claire’s relationship grew, learning about the Highland culture and way of life, and so much more.
There are many moments and episodes we all like to remember (ahem, the wedding) and others we don’t really want to think about too much (Wentworth Prison).

But wherever the story went, we surely followed, and it’s been an amazing seven years! In honor of the anniversary, Sam and Caitriona Balfe posted some throwback photos. Check them out below:
There are so many moments from Outlander Season 1 that stick out. But, since we’re celebrating the show’s premiere today I’ll share my favorite moment from the first episode.
Check out this post from 2014. Does anyone remember following the Outlander Twitter account from the very beginning?
I’m a real sucker for romance and a true fangirl at heart. I just love to ship couples. Jamie and Claire perfectly tick all those boxes. Their love story has melted my heart from the beginning and continues to do so.
While that’s number one for me, overall Outlander as a show keeps me invested and captures my attention with the brilliant acting and wonderful production. That’s what I love about it so much!
Happy seventh anniversary, Outlander!
