Just the Outlander chapter

The chapter starts with Claire going to treat Betty. When she gets there, another doctor is already seeing her. She’s heard a little about this doctor, and it’s clear the doctor has heard about her. They both treat each other with suspicion.

Claire does get a chance to make sure Betty isn’t dead. She also sees the type of equipment the doctor is using and notices that he doesn’t clean his equipment between patients. It’s a concern, but not the biggest concern at the moment. However, the doctor wants Claire out of the room, believing Claire is just getting in the way.

The thing Claire worries about the most is Betty throwing up in her sleep. She has decided that while laudanum was used, there may have also been an opium product used, but she couldn’t get close enough to confirm.

When outside, she speaks to Jamie briefly, but the focus moves onto Wylie. She wants to apologize for how things looked, but it’s clear that Jamie is still angry about the situation.

Jamie feels like his honor has been offended. Claire knows that means Wylie will pay for that in some sort of way.
