Steven Cree offers A Discovery of Witches Season 3 update

A Discovery of Witches Season 3 has finished filming, and we know it’s coming in 2022. Steven Cree offers us a post-production update.

While we know A Discovery of Witches Season 3 is coming sometime next year, it’s always good to get some sort of update. It’s good to know that post-production is moving forward, and that’s what we got with Steven Cree’s latest update.

The Outlander actor plays Gallowglass on the magical series. He first appeared in Season 2, but he will also be in the third season. Diana and Matthew are back in the present day, but Gallowglass is a vampire so it means we get to see Cree again.

Just how far into post-production is the show? What is the release date looking like?

A Discovery of Witches Season 3 post-production update

Cree shared that he’d recently done some ADR work. This is “additional dialogue recording,” and it’s something that all TV shows need.

Often, the dialogue is needed when something isn’t clear enough from the original recording of audio. Or there may be the need to add in the actor’s voice into moments where they’re off-set or the camera wasn’t recording their sound properly when filming.

For those who don’t know, a scene will need to be filmed at least twice. The camera will be on one character and then the scene is refilmed with the camera focused on the other person in the scene. This could be done more if there are additional characters in the scene. The recording won’t always pick up all audio, which can mean ADR is needed.

There are other reasons for this, too. It’s a long process, and it’s why post-production takes months to complete. There are a lot of cogs in the wheel.

The good news is that post-production on A Discovery of Witches is moving forward. We’re still looking at 2022 as a release date, but we’re not sure when just yet. It’s possibly going to be early 2022.
