Lizzie did her part to save Jemmy on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9
While much of Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 is focused on Jamie’s life, it’s hard to forget the buffalo scene. Lizzie did her part in protecting Jemmy.
I do find Lizzie is made fun of a lot within the Outlander fandom. Maybe it’s why I’m so protective of her. After all, a lot of the reason she’s not liked is because of an honest mistake back in the fourth season. That honest mistake had some dire consequences, but she didn’t do it on purpose to spite Roger.
This isn’t about that, though. Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 included that all-important buffalo scene. It’s the moment the women all come together to protect Jemmy and take down the buffalo. And yes, Lizzie played a part in that.
Lizzie gets made fun of for screaming. Her reaction to fear is fright (the other two are flight and fight). None of us really know how we’ll react in a situation. We get a sense of it when our anxieties go off and we feel one of the three coming in. Personally, it’s fight, but I know a lot of people with the other two reactions. Most of the time, we have no control over that.
Lizzie still stepped in front of Jemmy on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9
While Lizzie’s reaction was fright, she didn’t stand completely motionless. She managed to scream for help as she walked in front of Jemmy carefully.
If that buffalo charged toward her and Jemmy, the young boy wouldn’t have stood a chance unprotected. Lizzie was able to think that and she managed to at least give Jemmy a chance if the unthinkable happened. At the same time, she screamed for help.
Had Lizzie ran, the buffalo would have charged. There’s a chance that would have been at Jemmy.
So, while people want to laugh at Lizzie for her reaction, I’m going to stand by her. She played an important part to protect Jemmy on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9.
