Outlander Season 7 release date, cast, trailer, synopsis, and more
Outlander Season 7 has officially been confirmed by STARZ. What do we know about the season so far?
Admittedly, it is very early to write about Outlander Season 7. Season 6 is only just filming and probably isn’t arriving until 2022.
There’s very little news about the seventh season at this time. All we know is that it is officially happening on STARZ.
So why this post? It’s a bookmark post and will be updated as we get more information about the series. This is one of those posts where we’re thinking long-term. Here’s what we do know about Outlander Season 7 so far.
Outlander Season 7 premiere date
There isn’t a premiere date just yet. The seventh season hasn’t even started filming, with production on Outlander Season 6 currently happening.
The earliest we’ll get the season is 2023. It could be toward the end of the year.
Outlander Season 7 cast
There are four characters we can say for certain will return for Outlander Season 7:
- Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser
- Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser
- Sophie Skelton as Brianna Fraser MacKenzie
- Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie
We’ll also likely see the following return:
- César Domboy as Fergus Fraser
- Lauren Lyle as Marsali Fraser
- John Bell as Young Ian
Other than that, casting for the season is usually very quiet. With the way the show films as secretly as possible, it can even be difficult to get a look at filming spoilers.
There are certainly a few characters from An Echo in the Bone to include in the story.
We do hope to see David Berry return as Lord John Grey considering the role the character has in the seventh book. We’ll also be on the lookout for who will play Willie, Jamie’s son.
Outlander Season 7 trailer
As filming hasn’t started yet, there isn’t a trailer. That isn’t going to arrive for a while yet, probably a few months before the premiere date. We’ll be sure to update when it arrives.

Outlander Season 7 synopsis
For the most part, the season is likely to follow An Echo in the Bone, the seventh book in the story. However, the showrunners have been combining books recently. Part of Book 6, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, was used for Season 5 and we’re expecting some of Book 7 to be included in Season 6.
Once there is an official synopsis out, we’ll be sure to let you know.
