Foreshadowing in the Outlander chapter

There is a little bit of foreshadowing in this chapter. It’s all about the talk of the baby’s parentage. We’re still not conclusive, but there’s something Claire hasn’t noticed. Under the hair is a birthmark. Roger has that same birthmark.

Would it have mattered? She doesn’t know in the books that Roger has a birthmark until the topic of conversation comes up. Would it be possible that she’d even think more than “there’s a birthmark” even if she did see it?

Adapting the Drums of Autumn chapter

This part of the breakdown is going to start becoming unnecessary for the rest of the book breakdown. We’re in the territory of book that didn’t get used for the series.

Why is that? Well, I’m not 100% sure about this point. All I know is that it was made clear earlier in Outlander Season 4 that this chapter wouldn’t make it to the show. Claire and Jamie wouldn’t get back from the Mohawk in time for the birth of their grandson.

However, I also wonder if it had to do with time to fit so much else in before this point. Brianna gave birth during more of a montage as Claire and Jamie returned. There wasn’t much time to see the whole family together before bringing us the cliffhanger ending (not in the books but important).

As a show-first fan, I didn’t mind the change. I still don’t mind it even after reading the books. I understand that there are various reasons why a writing team will make a decision not to include particular storylines. The books and the show need to be treated separately.
