Brianna has a proposition and a threat for Lord John Grey in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 59

Brianna needs to figure out what to do to prevent marrying the wrong person. She figures it out in Outlander Book 4, Chapter 59.

This is a chapter that tends to bring up a lot of debate. After all, Brianna does make a bad choice in threatening blackmail. She knows the error of her ways, though, and also admits that she would have never done it.

I do have a lot of sympathy for Brianna. She’s stuck in a time period that isn’t her own, in a time period that doesn’t let her be who she was going to be in the 1970s. At the same time, she’s full of hormones because of her pregnancy. This chapter is important so that we get this chance to remember that, even if she can’t tell Lord John Grey everything.

It’s also a chapter that was used in the series. It had to be. After all, it starts the real friendship between these two characters. We see two people who have things to hide come together in a roundabout way, and John ends up feeling protective of this young woman who has dropped into his life.

I do notice a tiny bit of foreshadowing, too. I’ll get to that in the foreshadowing part of this breakdown.

Let’s dive into Drums of Autumn Chapter 59.
