Outlander Season 5: The Fiery Cross

Next up is the Outlander Season 5 premiere. This is one of those mostly happy episodes. Everyone is celebrating the wedding of Brianna and Roger. And it arguably is their episode, giving us some conversations between them that we’ve desperately needed.

We get this moment of bliss, a calm before the storm. Bree and Roger aren’t the only ones happy together, either. We see Marsali and Fergus with their growing brood, Claire and Jamie in a good place, and even Jocasta and Murtagh together.

Of course, there’s the moment with the gathering at the end, but the majority of this episode is a celebration. And there’s no doubt it needs to be watched on Valentine’s Day.

Outlander Season 4: Providence

I’m jumping back to Season 4 for this one, and it’s the penultimate episode of the season. In fact, it’s one of my all-time favorite episodes of the season.

This one only features Claire and Jamie at the start. It’s an episode for Fergus, Brianna, and Roger. And it’s Roger’s storyline that really wins over when it comes to Valentine’s Day.

We have this episode about what people are willing to do for love. Roger is understandably angry about everything that’s happened. He’s remained in the past for Bree, but he’s started to fear that he’ll never see her and wondering why he should even bother.

The priest shares his thoughts and the love he has for Johiehon and their child. However, he also shares his passion for his beliefs. At the very end, he’s sent to the pyre to burn, and we watch as Johiehon walks into the flames to be with him.

Would I do that? No, but that doesn’t stop this episode from being a powerful one to remind us of how far some people are willing to go for love.
