Outlander Season 6 is filming, and we got to see a church being built in the announcement video. Who is this church going to be for?
We can certainly look at the books for answers for this. If you haven’t got to A Breath of Snow and Ashes and further and you don’t want book spoilers, you’ll want to skip over this post. If you’re looking for spoilers and theories, keep going!
In the video to announce filming had started, we get a look at some of the new sets. One of those is a church, but why would a church be built on Fraser’s Ridge?
There is one person this is likely to be for, and it all comes off the journey he has gone through during the fifth season. It’s all about Roger Mac.
What happens to Roger during Outlander Season 6?
In the fifth season/fifth book, Roger goes through a traumatic experience. He’s hanged as a Regulator all thanks to his ancestor, Buck MacKenzie. We watched him relive the trauma and get past it in the fifth season.
During the books, things work a little differently. He goes on a spiritual journey, and it all leads to Roger realizing that the thing he can do is offer guidance and spiritual hope to others.
There is still time for him to do that. We’ve seen him care for others, and he’s certainly looked at things in a spiritual way at times. Being raised by a reverend has given him certain views in life. Roger’s journey isn’t over just because he’s worked through the initial trauma of being hanged.
Roger becoming a minister is more than just him finding a purpose on the Ridge. His role is important in the upcoming Revolutionary War. He needs to be in that position for a few of the storylines to come while on the Ridge. So, it’s going to be needed for the show if it’s going to follow some of those book storylines.
Of course, the show could opt for someone completely different to become the minister. However, I don’t think that will happen when Roger is one of the main characters.
Who do you think the church is for on Outlander Season 6? What do you hope to see for Roger during the season? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
