Could Lou Diamond Phillips direct an episode of Outlander?
Outlander has many celebrity fans around the world. Lou Diamond Phillips is one of them, and recent conversations make us wonder if he could direct.
The series isn’t without its list of celebrity fans. After all, celebrities are just like us when it comes to TV. They all find something to enjoy, whether they want sci-fi, fantasy, or romance.
Phillips being a fan of the series isn’t exactly new news either. Maril Davis and co. have known about his love for the series for a long time. He shared back in 2016 that he’d binged the first season and then spent a lot of time tweeting the actors to praise their talents and performances.
Of course, it opened up a conversation about whether there would be a role for him. It’s hard to do that with Outlander, though. Very few American actors are able to join the series due to SAG requirements. Outlander isn’t a SAG show, which is why it can never be nominated for the SAG Awards (in that case, the show missing out isn’t a snub but part of the rules!).
While he can’t join the show as an actor, there is another potential option.
Maril Davis suggests Lou Diamond Phillips could direct an episode of Outlander
The topic of Phillips being a fan of the series came up again due to a discussion with The Morning Show. That led to many fans tweeting Maril Davis and others connected to the series to find out if he could join.
Davis quickly responded to say that she was aware of his love for the series, and then hinted that being the director of an episode (or two) is possible. They’re “always open to new directors,” she shared.
This is certainly doable.
Well, sort of. Phillips is currently busy with another project. You can see him star as Gil Arroyo on Prodigal Son, and there are no signs that he’s leaving that any time soon. I’m just hoping that campy TV crime drama remains on the air, because it is certainly entertaining.
