Sam Heughan hopes to find a love like Jamie and Claire’s one day

All of us Outlander fans love Jamie and Claire’s love. That’s just a fact. Their commitment to each other is what many look for in a relationship, and the same can be said for Sam Heughan.

The dashing Scot who portrays our favorite Highlander recently told Cheat Sheet he hopes to find a love like Jamie and Claire’s one day.

Here’s what he said:

"I think that’s maybe why Diana Gabaldon’s books have done so well and why we have a great family of people that buy into that. I think it’s something that we all aspire to and aim for so, yeah, I would like to think it’s real and I’d like to think that one day I could have that myself."

Focusing on his career

The article also mentions that Sam is focused on his career for now. We know how busy he’s been with multiple projects (even in a pandemic!) including new movies, Clanlands, Sassenach Whisky, and more. And when Outlander is filming, the actors’ days are long and they’re in Scotland for months.

I can’t blame him for wanting to focus on his career right now. We know Outlander was really Sam’s big break and so many doors have now opened up. He’s been waiting for this opportunity for a long time so it’s not surprising he’s working on so many projects. Though I always dread Droughtlander, this time around I don’t feel like I’m missing Sam because he’s popping up somewhere else!

He’s just like us

Sam’s comments are also a reminder that he’s just like everyone else. Sometimes we forget that actors are human beings too and really aren’t that different in certain ways. Sam hopes to find someone, like many of us hope to find our very own Jamie or Claire.

Whether he’s in a relationship or not, we want to see Sam happy. If there’s one thing to take away from his comments, it’s that he’s in love with Jamie and Claire’s love just as much as we are!
