Sam Heughan to star in new romantic film Text for You

Text for You will star Sam Heughan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Celine Dion

Outlander actor Sam Heughan is no stranger to playing a romantic lead.  He’s set many a heart a-flutter as the irresistible Jamie Fraser.  He will be taking up the mantle again in a new drama for Screen Gems, currently titled Text for You.  The film will be directed by Jim Strouse.

Heughan’s co-star will be Priyanka Chopra Jonas from Quantico.  Musical legend Celine Dion, winner of five Grammy Awards, has also been cast, and her music will play a key role in the film.  Text for You is based on a German film entitled SMS Fur Dich.

Deadline has revealed several new additions to the cast.  We don’t know who they’re playing yet, but Russell Tovey, Steve Oram, Omid Djalili, Sofia Barclay, Lydia West, Arinzé Kene, and Celia Imrie will also be in the film.  Tovey was on Quantico with Priyanka Chopra Jonas.  Filming has started in the UK and is set to finish in the U.S. next year.

Text for You is based around a tragic meet-cute involving text messages

Chopra Jonas plays a woman who has lost her fiancé.  To help her heal, she starts sending texts to his old number.  According to Deadline:

"It turns out the phone number has been reassigned to a man across town suffering from similar heartbreak.  The two meet and feel an undeniable connection, but can’t seem to leave the past behind.In this starry English-language remake, the music and influence of Celine Dion gives them the courage to take a chance on love again."

We don’t know yet whether Sam will be playing the new love or the dead fiancé, but we can hope it’s the former.  He posted a pic of his Text for You chair on his Instagram stories the other day, so we know he’s already hard at work on the film.
