5 best Claire moments from the Outlander Season 3 finale
Claire’s standout moments from the Outlander Season 3 finale
The Outlander Season 3 finale had a lot to tie up. It certainly managed it for the most part, ending us on a cliffhanger that would push us into Season 4.
The episode aired on this day three years ago. Now it’s time to mark that by looking back at Claire’s standout moments from the episode.
Heading straight to Geillis’s plantation
The episode initially opens with something that would come at the end of the episode, but then takes us back to just after Jamie is arrested on Outlander Season 3, Episode 12. Claire can do nothing but head straight for Geillis’s plantation. She has to find Young Ian.
However, Claire doesn’t leave without a note. While she’s looking for Young Ian, she leaves Fergus a note about Jamie trusting in Fergus to do what needs to be done. She shows her trust in this man that has become her adopted son.
Telling Geillis everything
In an effort to save her life and find Young Ian, Claire has no choice but to tell Geillis everything. She tells Geillis about time travel, go back and forth between the stones, and the daughter she had in Boston.
We also get Claire’s theories about how the stones work. She thinks there has to be someone or something on the other side. Time travel works by focusing on the person/place in the heart.

Watching the dance
With time running out, Claire and Jamie need to figure out where Geillis would go to travel to the future. On the way, they come across the slaves dancing, and Claire can’t help but watch. She’s transfixed by the dance, in the same way she watched in the Outlander series premiere.
Claire thinks about the dance around the stones. This dance is just as primitive, but also just as beautiful to watch. She doesn’t want to interrupt, feeling like she’s intruding, but time is of the essence.
Finding Margaret Campbell
We get this sweet moment with Margaret Campbell before Claire finally gets to Geillis. We see Margaret’s true gifts, including being able to channel Brianna.
However, there’s something about Claire that stands out in all this. It’s like she’s never believed in the ability of sight before, and in this moment, she accepts that it’s all true. Margaret does see the future and even what has come that nobody has spoken about.
And then comes “Abandawe.” Claire remembers this word, and now she knows it’s all connected to Brianna and Geillis.
Saving Young Ian and Brianna
Finally, it comes to saving Young Ian in the Outlander Season 3 finale. Claire has taken an oath to do no harm, yet, when it comes to it, she does. She lashes out to prevent Geillis from going through the portal and putting Brianna at risk.
In doing so, she becomes the woman who kills the white woman the skeleton Joe Abernathy has centuries later. It’s all connected, leaving Claire with a strenuous feeling.
We see Claire react in a similar way to when she killed the English deserters in Outlander Season 1. She’s in shock, but also unsure if what’s she did was real. I love this mirrored image.
