Claire learns that Jamie remarried  in Outlander Book 3, Chapter 34

Outlander Book 3, Chapter 34 picked up immediately after the previous chapter. It’s time to find out who called Jamie “Daddy” and why.

This is one of those important chapters for the overall storyline. It’s the thing that sets up the dominos for them to fall over at a later point. Without it, the story would have very little way to go to realistically make sense, so it’s not surprising to hear that this chapter did make it into the TV series.

However, it is a chapter that is mostly inside Claire’s head. I’ll get to the adaptation of that in the later section. I do think it explains why Claire seems to take longer in the show to make it clear she’s staying.

As for the chapter itself, we find out the secret Jamie has been holding onto all this time. Claire says he lied, and that could be the thing that breaks them apart. Jamie isn’t about to let that happen, though.

The chapter is about 25 minutes long. This is the length of the next few chapters, which takes up about 10 pages in the book. Despite the shorter than average length, the chapter still packs a punch and is filled with emotion.
