If you didn’t preorder Clanlands, now is the time to get it for Droughtlander

There is only one book to discuss when it comes to Droughtlander reading suggestions this week. It’s all about Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish’s new book, Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other.

You got yours through preorder, right? Most Outlander fans certainly did. After all, there were some signed copies if you preordered. So, I’m sure many of you are already reading this book.

If you somehow missed the announcement, don’t worry. You can still get the book! Whether you need the physical copy, the eBook, or even the Audible version, there are options available.

What is Clanlands?

Clanlands was originally going to be a podcast. Heughan and McTavish were going to travel Scotland and discuss the things they learned. It was a chance to delve into the history and lore of the clans and of Scotland itself.

Of course, this immediately appealed to Outlander fans. Not only was it two of our favorite actors from the show, but it was the chance to learn about a country we’d fallen in love with. Diana Gabaldon’s research is excellent, but it isn’t a history book. It’s a fiction novel and there isn’t the chance to delve into everything. The podcast promised to delve into more.

With the road trip came a change of plan. There was so much great content that the podcast turned into a TV show. We’re still waiting for Men in Kilts to premiere on STARZ, but at least we have the book to accompany it.

The book looks at some of the things Heughan and McTavish learned. It’s a chance to delve into the history of the beautiful country, some of it not so happy and some of it extremely bloody. There’s the opportunity to discuss the clans and what happened to them before and after Culloden. This book is a look at what Scotland was and what it has become.

This is more than just a history book. It’s an adventure.

Why this book is perfect for Outlander fans

I don’t think I need to explain this, do I? Doesn’t every Outlander fan already know why it’s going to be perfect?

This isn’t just about Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish being involved. It’s the experience within the book. It’s this chance to get to know Scotland more.

There are topics Gabaldon doesn’t have time to delve into in Outlander. There are elements that Clanlands will touch on that wouldn’t have necessarily affected Jamie Fraser or even Clan MacKenzie, but they’re important for Scotland as a whole.

This is an adventure, and it’s going to be essential during Droughtlander.

Of course, we do want to support our actors in their other ventures. Getting the book is one way to do that.
