Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish’s Clanlands will be released in November

Some exciting news for us Outlander fans! We knew Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish teamed up to write a book, Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other. Now we have a release date!

You can now pre-order your copy to get the book on Nov. 3.

The actors announced the news on an Instagram Live. What’s also exciting is that the release date will be the same worldwide. So whether you’re in the U.S., U.K., or anywhere else the book will be available, everyone can flip through its pages on the same day.

The first printing of the U.S. version will feature a different, exclusive cover. For more information about the book and how to pre-order you can visit the Clanlands website.

What is the book about?

In the Instagram Live, Sam mentioned the book will include stories about the actors’ pasts, what it was like for them to grow up as Scotsmen, their time as working actors, and of course the story of their road trip through Scotland and according to Sam, the “mischief that we get up to.”

Clanlands is a sort of companion to Sam and Graham’s new docuseries, Men in Kilts, which will take us on that journey with them through Scotland. We still don’t know if the book will document the same information we’ll see in the show if it will explore different locations and tell us other stories, or maybe just provide additional information.

What’s nice about books is you can make them as long as you want. I think writing the book provides the actors with a new creative outlet while giving us some more insight into their adventures that might be edited out of the show. It was definitely a smart decision.

Which special author contributed to the book?

And if all this wasn’t enough, fans learned about another surprise for Clanlands. The one and only Outlander book author, Diana Gabaldon, has written the foreword to their book!

And we’re not the only ones excited by this news:

This is a big deal for the new co-authors as Diana is the one who created the whole world of Outlander.

I’m so happy for Sam and Graham. I always love to see the great interactions with the cast of Outlander and Diana, and the way she supports them. It’s a special bond they’ve created with our favorite author which is truly special!
