Clark Butler is on The Spanish Princess Part 2

The Spanish Princess Part 2 premiered on STARZ on Oct. 11. There are a few reasons this series is one for Outlander fans, but Episode 1 brought us a ‘stinking papist’ connection.

That’s right, young Willie has a role on the season. Clark Butler plays young Reggie Pole on The Spanish Princess Part 2, and it looks like our little boy has switched religions after all. It’s going to be interesting to see how much of this history this part of the story will follow and how much of The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse will be adapted.

Butler’s character is based on the real Reginald Pole, and he does have an important part in Henry VIII’s story in real history. However, The Spanish Princess is about Catherine of Aragon, so it’s unlikely to get into Reggie’s tale all that much. However, I wouldn’t say that this is the last time we’ll see him on the show.

The Spanish Princess also follows The King’s Curse

While The Spanish Princess Part 2 is mostly about Catherine of Aragon, the series does delve into some of the novel The King’s Curse. This is Margaret Pole’s story, Reggie’s mother.

Margaret makes sacrifices for her children. However, the story is mostly about her rather than her boys. Of course, that doesn’t mean we won’t get to see Reggie again.

One thing the series does offer is a chance to see Butler in another role. Outlander fans remember him for just one episode on Outlander Season 3. While it is just one episode, it’s an important episode for Jamie. Butler is Willie’s secret, illegitimate son, but the role was played by Oliver Finnegan during the fourth season.
