Will Outlander Season 6 filming happen in 2020 at all?
With rising numbers of coronavirus cases, Scotland has put in new restrictions. Could this mean Outlander Season 6 won’t get to film anytime soon?
To be honest, it’s not entirely clear when Outlander Season 6 was supposed to start filming. Recently, John Bell shared that he’s getting ready to return as Young Ian Murray, but he didn’t give a timeline for filming.
Previously, there was talk of filming starting back up sometime in the fall. It was originally planned for May but the pandemic put that on hold. Many hoped that September or October would be better return dates.
That’s not been the case so far. And the rising number of cases in Scotland could put a hold on filming even longer. However, it’s important to note that the restrictions in place aren’t exactly aimed at filming or workplaces.
Scotland’s new restrictions are more about social gatherings
The new restrictions are similar to other parts of the world. They’re on social gatherings, and informal ones to be specific. The gatherings are about minimizing contact between households, including stopping car-sharing and fitness gatherings.
There’s nothing in the BBC breakdown about filming. Of course, the BBC breakdown is focused on questions from the public, and they’re more concerned about whether they’ll be able to go on vacation, see family members, or carpool with colleagues.
While the restrictions aren’t in place against workplaces, Outlander Season 6 filming may still be delayed. There’s a chance everyone wants to play it safe. Plus, those coming from the United States will need to quarantine for two weeks, and that’s where the EPs travel from!
Scotland has been recording the highest number of cases since the start of the pandemic. We may see filming postponed to 2021 just to avoid the risk of the cast and crew getting it.
