Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan share what their spirit animals probably are

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan wrapped up the Outlander End of Summer Series

As much as we’d love more Outlander, getting the End of Summer Series has been a good distraction. Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan wrapped things up, sharing the things they loved about Season 5 and more.

It wouldn’t be a chat between the two lead stars without seeing just how great friends they are. They’re not letting a Zoom call get in the way of that. It all kicks off with them talking about their spirit animals.

Caitriona would be a bear

Caitriona Balfe starts as she shares that she has learned a lot about herself during lockdown. She says that she’s like a bear, in the sense that she could happily sleep a lot. Sam Heughan tries to make it sound good by saying how cuddly bears are, but Caitriona can’t help but comment about how lazy she has been.

We wouldn’t say she’s been lazy. She’s been homely, bringing us a book club that we can all get involved in. Book clubs are great as they push us out of our comfort zones when it comes to reading—trying out books that we may never have heard of.

Sam would be a horse

While his Outlander leading lady has caught up on sleep, Sam Heughan has certainly been extremely active. He’s been on the go, doing a lot of work with Graham McTavish with the upcoming release of Men in Kilts and Clanlands.

Caitriona tried to think of something lively as his spirit animal, and both ended up agreeing that it would be a horse. They are always on the go.

Of course, Sam couldn’t help but comment on how horses always have their noses in food. Is that a hint that Sam will always be found eating something?

While this was something small and fun, it’s great to see our actors relaxed. Their friendship has only gotten stronger over the last six years they’ve been costars, and there’s a lot of hope there’s more to come.
