Misfits is the perfect binge-watch to get through Droughtlander

There are many great TV shows to watch while waiting for Outlander to return. Our Droughtlander suggestion today is all about Misfits.

Misfits is like nothing we’ve suggested before to get through Droughtlander. Usually, we look for TV shows that focus on something Outlander offers, whether it’s a brilliant love story or something set in the past filled with historical references.

This series plays on the side of those who want fantasy. That is a genre Outlander fits in because of the time travel, and it’s something that will draw you into the UK series about superheroes. Well, people with powers.

What is Misfits all about?

The series starts with six people starting community service. Five of them are struck by lightning during a strange storm and they develop superpowers after that. One of them gains the ability to turn back time, helping to change an event that has happened.

Within the series about superpowers, there is some excellent character development. Some of them learn about family members they never knew about, and others look at ways they can better their lives. Of course, with a system against them, it’s not that easy to do the right thing. They have a problem with keeping their probation officers alive.

The five seasons of the series don’t keep the same cast members. Live evolves and grows, and the actors chose to move onto other projects. This series does star the likes of Iwan Rheon from Game of Thrones, Robert Sheehan from The Umbrella Academy, and Antonia Thomas from The Good Doctor. They gained major roles off the show.

Why Outlander fans need to watch Misfits

What makes this show so wonderful during Droughtlander? It’s something completely different. While there are a couple of romances here and there throughout the British series, it’s not about that. It’s more about friendship, a bond that forms due to strange circumstances. It’s about a group of people trying to do the right thing while protecting their own lives.

There are also plenty of actors you’ll recognize from Outlander and more. Many of the guest stars are only in for one episode, but you’ll see Steven Cree, Rosie Day, and Andrew Gower from Outlander. You’ll also recognize Michelle Fairley and Ruth Negga among other great names.

Iwan Rheon is most definitely one of the biggest actors you’ll recognize. His character is nothing like Ramsey Bolton on Game of Thrones, seeing just how excellent his acting skills are.

There are also some storylines that you’ll appreciate. While simplistic in nature, there’s a fun story with someone going back in time to kill Hitler only to make things worse. There’s also an excellent episode that involves making sacrifices for friends when Curtis tries to prevent himself being arrested.

Misfits is an easy binge-watch. There are five seasons with six to eight episodes per season. There was an attempt to do an American spin-off but that didn’t work out. The original is where its at.

Next. Now is the time to watch Grantchester. dark
