Could the ninth Outlander book get a 2020 release date?
We all have eyes on the ninth Outlander book. “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone” continues the story of Claire and Jamie, along with the rest of their family.
It’s been in the works for a number of years. We certainly don’t want to feel like we’re rushing anyone—it’ll be done when it’s done and we want quality, after all!—but the idea of having the ninth book in our hands before the end of the year would be nice.
Is there a chance that could happen? It certainly seems like it with Diana Gabaldon recently saying she’s weeks away from finishing the book.
Finished doesn’t mean an instant release
One thing to note is that just because Herself is done with the book, it doesn’t mean that we’ll get a release date right away. It is off to the publishers and then up to them when the release date will happen.
Hopefully, it won’t be too long. The publishers know that there are a lot of hungry fans out there waiting for this book.
However, there could be a plan to hold off on publishing. Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish’s book, Clanlands, is coming out on Nov. 3. The two books don’t come from the same publishers. They won’t need to work with each other, but there may be a consideration because it will be the same fanbase for both books.
Delaying the release of the ninth book could be beneficial. Even if it’s just a couple of weeks, it would mean it’s closer to Christmas and still in 2020. There will be many people buying the Outlander book as Christmas gifts.
Of course, there could be another strategy in mind for the publishers. Right now, we still have to wait for the book to be finished by Diana Gabaldon.
