Warrior Nun is a show to take a chance on during Droughtlander

There are many TV shows on Netflix worth checking out during Droughtlander. One you may have written off at first glance is Warrior Nun. After all, it’s nothing like Outlander.

However, it turns out that it could be a great show to get you through a little bit of the break. It’s made its way to our favorite shows on Netflix during Droughtlander.

Before we move on, you’ll want to see where Warrior Nun has entered the list. This will also give you a look at the 24 other TV shows we recommend during the breaks.

Based on a graphic novel series

Right now, it feels like everything is based on a graphic novel series. Warrior Nun is no exception, but it is certainly worth watching. It offers a good recreation of the graphic novels, developing them fully and fleshing out characters for the TV series.

Like Outlander, the show offers more time on some of the side characters. We get to know a little more about characters that you wouldn’t usually see much exposition about during the graphic novels.

A show about strong women trained by men

There’s always an irony when it comes to shows with strong women. Like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which Warrior Nun is most definitely like, the show focuses on a group of women with mostly men in charge. There are some women, but at the end of the day, the Vatican oversees things and this place is all men.

Yet, it’s the women who hold the power. Of course, they’ve viewed as slightly lesser in some cases. It is the church after all!

Some of these elements will remind you of Claire, a woman out of her time. Claire is viewed as a witch by some and as a savior by others due to her healing skills.

Let’s not forget that there’s also an element of magic. Warrior Nun doesn’t quite involve time travel, but it involves phasing, magical healing, and other capabilities. Outlander has its own elements of magic and fantasy.

Another similarity to Claire is our lead character Ava, who feels out of place. She has to figure out what she’s going to do with the new skills she has, in a way Claire has to figure out what to do with the knowledge she has.

Something fun to take you on a ride

At first, Warrior Nun does look predictable. I made the mistake in believing that within the first couple of episodes.

In the end, there were a few twists and turns that made the show stand out. And it’s ended in a way that it’s perfectly set up for a second season. Now we’re just waiting for the renewal!

If you want a fun show that doesn’t take itself too seriously (and even points out its ironies), then you’re going to want to check out Warrior Nun during Droughtlander.
