Outlander Book Club: The plan for Dragonfly in Amber
Our plan of attack for Dragonfly in Amber in the Outlander Book Club
Hands up if you enjoyed our Outlander Book Club and are ready to start Book 2. I think there are going to be a lot of hands, especially those ready for Dragonfly in Amber.
There isn’t long to wait. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with everyone about the first book. Going through is chapter-by-chapter was a lot more fun than I anticipated it to be.
However, I’ll admit that it was hard work. To plan for days off, there were times I was reading three chapters in one day. And a couple of those chapters were the three-hour-long ones. I know some of you said something similar and want things to change just slightly for the second book.
Things aren’t changing too much. What will be the same is the three-section breakdown. From what you’ve said, you love the three different sections focusing on just the books, the foreshadowing within the books, and how the TV series adapted things.
We know the second book was changed much more than the first for the show, so this is certainly a section we need to keep, but there’s also plenty of foreshadowing of things to come. So, yes, the three sections are staying!
The new plan for Outlander Book Club posts
The minor change is going to be when the posts are available. Listening to what people have said and my own schedule, I think it’s best not to post the chapters on weekends. So, there will be a new post Monday to Friday, giving everyone a chance to catch up at the weekends if it’s necessary.
As more people return to work (and some never stopped), more time is going to be needed. And this book does have a few longer chapters from what I remember. There are 49 chapters in total covering about 950 pages, so there aren’t too many longer chapters, but there are a few.
So, we’ll start on July 20. That gives those who need the book time to get it and for us to get ready. There’s nothing stopping you from reading ahead, but I won’t be discussing plot points until July 20 working one chapter a weekday.
I do hope that works for everyone. Finding a balance isn’t easy for those who read more and those who don’t have time for one chapter a day. By the way, I switch between Audible and the book depending on what I’m doing and that might help some.
