You need to watch The Baby-Sitters Club to get through Droughtlander

One of the last shows you probably consider to get through Droughtlander is The Baby-Sitters Club. The latest Netflix Original series is mostly marketed towards younger children. But it’s something you’ll want to consider and is now on our list of best TV shows on Netflix for Outlander fans.

Before I get into why this show is on the list, you’ll want to check out the full list of TV shows on Netflix. You’ll likely find something to get through Droughtlander.

Why watch The Baby-Sitters Club

One of the first reasons this lands on our list is because it’s based on a book series. You likely read the book series as a child, with the first book being released in 1986. We’ve gone through a huge journey following our main protagonists, a group of girls with a business venture that helped them build a stronger friendship.

More than the book series, the Netflix Original brings the stories into the 21st century. They offer inclusivity in a way that the first book in 1986 could never have imagined. And that’s no fault of Ann M. Martin. After all, did we really think the world would be as it is now in 2020 (and I’m not talking coronavirus!).

The show is inclusive in some considerable ways, especially the fourth episode that explains the trans-right issue to viewers as well as Mary Ann. It also allows Mary Ann to gain confidence in herself, as she advocates for the right of someone in her care.

While the show is focused on a group of 12-13-year-old girls, it’s one that we can all take lessons from. The parents are heavily involved in the series, especially Kristy’s mom and stepdad. We get to see the young girls become young women, learning to trust each other and understand more about their feelings.

Good television is a must now. The Baby-Sitters Club offers that.

No, it’s nothing like Outlander. Not only is it not trying to be, but it’s also a good thing. There’s a focus on friendship and female empowerment. And you’ve got something you can watch with your younger kids, which you can’t do with Outlander.

The downside is that there’s only one season of 10 episodes. And the episodes are only about 30 minutes long. It won’t take you long to binge-watch. Trust me!
