Claire faces Black Jack Randall in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 21

We are into the breakdown of an extremely important chapter for the book and the show. Claire has been taken to Black Jack Randall in Outlander Book 1, Chapter 21. Will Jamie get to her in time?

Of course, we know what happens. There’s no way that Jamie wouldn’t get to Claire. However, while the show gives us a look at Jamie getting to Claire, we don’t get to see that in the books. It’s all told from Claire’s point of view, so we have to find out what Jamie did after the fact.

Fortunately, this chapter covers a lot. Jamie isn’t left hanging in the windowsill for too long. Not the few months we were left with when it came to Outlander Season 1.

There’s also a little foreshadowing of things to come while connecting back to previous chapters. As I say, there are moments that are extremely important, and it shouldn’t be surprising that it was used heavily for the show.

So, let’s get into our breakdown. This is a relatively long chapter, but not as long as the next one coming up. Audible puts this at 41 minutes. I admit that I broke this into two reading sessions across one day due to timing for my children. It is a chapter that has some good breaking points within it.
