Emmy nominations 2020: What is Outlander in contention for?
Which 10 potential Emmy nominations could Outlander receive?
It’s that time of the year where networks put their shows forward for Emmy consideration. This is the stage where the Emmys considers which shows and actors should be considered for nomination. Outlander has been put forward for 10 considerations.
Many of them are obvious. We’re looking at the show and the main cast being put forward for consideration. This doesn’t mean they will all be nominated, but there’s hope that they will be. Out of all recent seasons, the fifth has been the strongest for all.
Other nominations are for smaller roles on the show. We have some of our favorite guest stars put forward for consideration.
Emmy Awards 2020: Outlander FYCs
Gold Derby offered up the list that STARZ is officially putting forward for consideration. Actors can put themselves forward, so this may not be the entire list, but it’s the official list from the network.
The main Emmy FYC (for your consideration) is the show for Drama Series. The show is put forward every year. Will it get a nomination and a win this year? With the strength of Season 5 (and no Game of Thrones), there is a chance.
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have been put forward for Drama Actor and Drama Actress respectively. Then there’s Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton for Drama Supporting Actor and Drama Supporting Actress respectively. These aren’t surprising FYCs for the Emmys.
Lauren Lyle has also been put forward as a consideration for Drama Supporting Actress. While Skelton is also put forward, both could make it through to the nominations. After all, other shows have seen actors go up against each other for the same category.
With Lyle being put forward, I am a little disappointed that John Bell wasn’t put forward for Drama Supporting Actor with Richard Ranking. There’s always next season.
With that in mind, it shouldn’t be worrying that David Berry, Duncan Lacroix, and Ed Speleers have all been put forward for Drama Guest Actor. There’s a chance that all three could be nominated. Or it could be just two of them, one of them, or none of them.
As for Drama Guest Actress, Maria Doyle Kennedy has been put forward for consideration. This isn’t a surprising consideration, and she was put forward during Season 4. After the performance on Outlander Season 5, Episode 6, Maria really should be up for a nomination this year.
The deadline for the FYCs is June 5. Nominations will be announced on July 28, 2020.
