When could Outlander Season 6 premiere on STARZ?

STARZ hasn’t set a date for the Outlander Season 6 premiere. Filming hasn’t even started. But let’s speculate on a possible release date.

For the record, this is pure speculation. We don’t have a set date for the Outlander Season 6 premiere, but we can make an educated guess.

It’s possible to look at previous releases based on when filming started. In a normal year, it takes about 18 months to complete a season. This includes the pre-production and post-production work. From the point of filming, it’s about 10-12 months for the release.

For example, Outlander Season 5 started filming late April 2019 and was released in February 2020. So, we can use this as a guide for when Outlander Season 6 could premiere.

But Outlander Season 6 filming hasn’t started yet!

I know this is something you’re going to scream at me. We don’t know when filming can start. Scotland is one of the countries still on lockdown and shows no sign of shifting yet. Most of the talk out of the UK is about England only. So, that means filming can’t happen any time soon.

Sam Heughan has suggest fall 2020. That’s the aim right now, but no guaranteed date. Fall is also when a second wave of the coronavirus is suspected to hit, so could lead to another lockdown. We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

The earliest I’m expecting Outlander Season 6 to premiere is fall 2021. That’ purely the earliest. We could be waiting for January 2022 or later. I’ll have a better idea once filming is allowed to start.

Once filming starts, I’ll update you with my predictions based on STARZ’s previous plans for its schedule, other originals that may be airing at the time, and Outlander‘s likely filming.

Outlander Season 6 won’t premiere until fall 2021 at the earliest. Watch all five seasons on STARZ, available with Amazon Channels.
