The EPs take us Inside the World of Outlander Season 5, Episode 11, looking at the importance of storylines. Jamie lighting the cross was one of them.

Matt B. Roberts and Maril Davis take us inside another episode of the series. Inside the World for Outlander Season 5, Episode 11 focuses on the importance of particular storylines, especially that of Jamie lighting the cross.

The segment starts with the focus on Diana Gabaldon writing the episode. This was something the EPs wanted to happen, something that hasn’t happened since Season 2 (she wrote Episode 11). The issue for the EPs was whether it would work for Diana’s schedule. After all, we all know that she’s working on Book 9 in the main series and fans are eager to read it.

In the end, Diana decided she could write the episode. It’s quickly becoming a favorite for many fans.

The conversation then moved onto the jumps in time. In most seasons, there’s been a focus on taking things day by day. Apart from the 20 year separation, there isn’t much in the way to time jumps from episode to episode. That’s not the case in the latest episodes. In fact, Outlander Season 5, Episode 11 included the seasons changing to start, making it clear that almost a year has passed.

This is important for the show for the future. Roberts talks about how the show needed to get to the right time for Season 6. This sounds exciting!

Of course, there’s a discussion of Fraser’s Ridge, the Dr. Rawlings Recommends publications, and then Claire’s abduction at the end of the recent episode. The EPs focus on Claire’s hopes to do what’s right but how it leaves her open to danger.

Finally, the EPs move onto Jamie’s actions at the very end of the episode. It’s an important moment for everyone, as Jamie lights the cross. This is something from the premiere when he said he would only light it in the time of war. War is fighting for Claire, and now he wants the men together.

Davis brings up the theme for the season: what are you willing to do to protect your home and family. We’ll get to see how far everyone is willing to go in the finale.
