Claire had some standout moments in an episode where she said goodbye to her child again. Here are her three top moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 11.

Outlander Season 5, Episode 11 was certainly not an easy episode for Claire, and we’re not talking about the end of it. She had to say goodbye to her daughter, again.

This is a chance to look at Claire’s moments and break down the top three. These are my favorite moments from “Journeycake.”

3. Creating peanut butter

Claire has always tried to bring something of the future to the past. Season 5 has seen more of it than previous seasons, with her creation of penicillin. However, there’s something during Episode 11 that’s on a much smaller scale.

We get her creating peanut butter long before it’s invented. This is at the time she thinks Jemmy will be in the past for much longer, possibly forever, and she won’t let him grow up without PB&J sandwiches. However, there’s a more important moments, and it’s when the PB&J sandwiches become the “journey cake” for Bree, Roger, and Jemmy.

2. Her compassion for Ulysses

Throughout the series, Claire has always shown compassion for other people. Whether it was Mr. Willoughby on the ship during Season 3 or the compassion for the slave during the fourth season. Claire wants to do good in the world.

She gets that chance during Outlander Season 5, Episode 11, and there’s absolutely nobody who can argue with it this time. Claire wants to find a way to help Ulysses after he had to leave Jocasta due to his actions to save her. It’s Jamie who probably eventually finds a way, but I love seeing Claire’s compassion throughout this scene in the woods.

1. Saying goodbye to Brianna

When Claire realized she would have to say goodbye to her daughter, you could see her putting it off. It was just too hard for her. Eventually, she can’t put it off any longer.

There were a lot of moments that harkened back to Season 3 during this episode. It was a perfect way to bring in “Voyager” moments that fans missed not being included while also keeping the focus on this mother losing her daughter once more.
