Outlander Season 5, Episode 9: Inside the World of the snake bite

We head inside another episode of Outlander Season 5. Matt B. Roberts and Maril Davis take us through the snake bite episode.

As Sam Heughan once again proved why he deserves an Emmy, as viewers we were taken through every emotion possible. Matt B. Roberts and Maril Davis takes fans Inside the World of Outlander Season 5, Episode 9.

While much of the episode was certainly focused on the snake bite, the two EPs opted to focus on strategic points of the episode to talk about the filming methods and the reasons for specific moments.

It all starts with a discussion about the bison scene. The EPs called the bison a buffalo, the animal is actually a bison. However, that’s not up for debate right now. What we got to see was how the scene around the Big House was filmed.

This was a look at everything Sophie Skelton had to work with. It wasn’t easy to film, as the actual bison needed to be green-screened into the shot. Instead, one of the crew members dressed up as the bison to give Sophie Skelton something to look at during the scenes. I’m sure this certainly meant plenty of laughs.

Another important scene was that between Young Ian and Jamie. Young Ian calls Jamie out for his words about losing a limb. It’s a chance for Jamie to really think about what he means when he thinks that losing his leg would be the worst thing possible.

This was certainly an important moment for the show to add in; something that wasn’t in the books. It’s an emotionally-charged scene that offers John Bell another chance to show off his own acting skills.

Finally, the Inside the World segment for Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 sees the EPs discuss Claire’s feelings throughout the episode. It’s certainly worth a watch just to see the praise Caitriona Balfe gets for this. With this episode being such a major Jamie moment, it’s easy to overlook some of the other characters, but it’s just as much a Claire episode as it is a Jamie one.
