When Brianna was hit by the bison on Outlander, I at least expected someone to be concerned about any bruising. Instead, she got up without a limp.

I’m not one to nitpick when it comes to Outlander. I don’t care about changes from the book storyline if it make sense for the development of the TV characters. However, there’s one thing from Season 5, Episode 9 that stood out immediately. How did Brianna get up from the bison hit without a limp?

Okay, I know some arguments out there involve the fact that the show uses time travel. However, while there is time travel involved, all fantasy and sci-fi shows and books need to have some realism to them. That’s especially the case when it comes to characters being injured.

The way Brianna was hit, she should have been winded at the very least. I expected Claire to rush over with concern, checking on whether Bree was bruised or injured in any way. However, there was nothing. Bree got up without a limp and quickly grabbed her son.

Okay, maybe there could be some adrenaline involved. However, I’ve been hit hard when the adrenaline has been running. Afterward, I’ve felt the pain. And that pain tends to feel 10 times worse. There wasn’t even a mention of Bree being sore.

This could be something that a deleted scene mentions. After all, I did notice a big cut between the bison being killed and Brianna grabbing Jemmy. It felt like there was some odd cutting to reduce the episode length down. It makes me wonder if something was missing in this cut; something that nobody really noticed while watching it. After all, with so much to focus on, it’s understandable that a small element can be overlooked.

Instead of Bree being fully hit and thrown into the air, it might have been better for her to have jumped out of the way at the last minute and fallen to the ground. That could have explained the lack of limp.

But none of this took away from how much I enjoyed this episode of Outlander Season 5. When it comes to ranking the season, I admit that the last three episodes are going to be hard to choose between.
