3 best Jamie moments on Outlander Season 5, Episode 9
What a ride Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 was. At one point, we wondered if Jamie would lose a leg or his life. Here are his top three moments.
Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 certainly took us on one hell of a ride. We spent the time wondering whether Jamie was going to lose his life or his leg. Fortunately, neither happened, but it was a powerful episode nonetheless.
One thing this episode offered was a way to strengthen the bond between various characters. We got to see Jamie and Roger accept each other for who they are and move past the negative thoughts they’ve had in the past. Brianna stepped up to save her father’s life and leg. And Jamie had a chance to reflect on his double standards through his stubbornness.
There were some excellent Jamie moments throughout the episode. Here are my three favorites from Outlander Season 5, Episode 9.
3. Jamie’s honesty with Roger
While in the woods, Jamie is completely honest with Roger. He knows there’s a chance he could die, so he needs Roger to do something for him: kill Stephen Bonnet. Even though Roger wonders if he could kill a man, Jamie continues with his honesty.
Their bond strengthens in the woods. Jamie has a chance to put the past behind them. He is happy that Roger is around, proud that Roger is his son-in-law. It’s something that Roger has needed to hear, and Jamie won’t die without saying it.
2. Jamie fearing the loss of his leg
Like any warrior, Jamie fears the loss of his leg. He goes as far as telling Claire to let him die if it means life or leg. Of course, Claire struggles with that, but it’s a deep-rooted fear in Jamie.
He is scared that he’ll be less of a man because of it. Despite Fergus and Ian proving that you can still live a full enough life without a limb, Jamie fears he can’t. It takes Young Ian to bring up Jamie’s hypocrisy. And yes, he is a hypocrite for a moment, but he’s also extremely human in this.
1. Admitting Claire was the only one who would bring him back
At the very end of the episode, Jamie shares that he knew if anyone would bring him back from the brink of death, it was Claire. He asked Roger to help him get to bed knowing that they’d have some privacy so Claire could do whatever it would take to bring him back to life. She wasn’t going to let him die.
I love that we got to see this side of him again. Sometimes it can be lost with all the action, but we get this tender, loving moment at the end of Outlander Season 5, Episode 9. It’s important to show the strength of Claire and Jamie’s bond is still there.
