The promo for Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 is out. It’s a chance to bring us more teases about the episode, adding to the synopsis that we already have. Now it’s time to break down the promo to get an idea of what to expect.

5. Roger is stepping in as a priest

At the very end of the promo, Roger looks to have his hand over someone’s head and says “Lord have mercy.” Those who have read the books will be able to take a guess at what this moment is. But what about the show-first fans?

This moment gives us a look at what Roger will do now that he’s lost his voice. He was raised as a minister’s son and is a believer. It’s not all that surprising that he could take on the role as a minister at the Ridge.

4. Claire is scared

Claire tells Jamie that only one of them is allowed to be scared. Right now, it’s Claire’s turn to be scared. It’s not often that she feels fear—or shows it at the very least.

This suggests that the situation is out of her hands. Jamie is suffering from a snake bite and she doesn’t know if she can save him.

3. There’s a battle at the Ridge

“There’s a war coming.” That’s something Jamie tells Claire. Does this mean Bonnet is on his way to the Ridge to get Jemmy? That’s a fear throughout the Outlander Season 5, Episode 9 promo. It could be something else that they’re fighting again, but it looks like everyone at the Ridge is ready for a fight.

Jamie has one thing for Roger to do should he die. Roger needs to kill Stephen Bonnet. I doubt Roger would really be opposed to doing that even if he is a pacifist deep down. Not after everything Bonnet has done!

1. Jamie fears Stephen Bonnet will take Jemmy

Roger tells Bree that Bonnet could take Jemmy. This is something Jamie believes, and we shouldn’t doubt Jamie. Considering the situation with young Willie, of course Jamie is going to know about parental rights and law of his time.

Bonnet believes Jemmy is his son. He also knows Jemmy is the owner of River Run. Taking Jemmy would work in Bonnet’s own interests, so it’s not surprising he may come to the Ridge for the child.
