In a sneak peek for Outlander Season 5, Episode 8, we’re going to see the aftermath of the Battle of Alamance, including Jocasta’s reaction to Murtagh’s death.

It seems like Outlander Season 5, Episode 8, titled “Famous Last Words,” is going to be a tearjerker. We know the episode will pick up right after the ending of Episode 7, “The Ballad of Roger Mac.” That means we’re going to see what happened to Roger, and of course, mourn Murtagh’s death.

In a sneak peek shared by Entertainment Weekly, two of the closest people to our beloved Regulator, Jamie and Jocasta, are taking comfort in each other after the loss of their loved one.

Jocasta tells Jamie even though Murtagh was never her husband, she wanted to make a headstone for him. Jamie reminds her he and Murtagh were not father and son, “but it does not make the pain any less.” You can catch a glimpse of Jocasta in front of the headstone at the beginning of the episode’s promo.

In one of the new promotional photos, there’s a shot of Jocasta and I’m pretty sure it’s her standing in front of Murtagh’s headstone. We also know Jocasta will be singing at his funeral. I’m already emotionally preparing myself for a moving goodbye as she bids her love farewell.

Jocasta and Murtagh’s relationship was a real surprise for everyone, even the book readers. I didn’t think I’d be rooting for them so much but after that heart-wrenching scene in Episode 6, “Better to Marry Than Burn,” even if you didn’t care about their storyline, you couldn’t help but want them to be together.

If you remember, Murtagh brought her a pendant and though she handed it back, he placed it on the table before leaving. In the sneak peek you can see she’s wearing his gift around her neck. Oh, my heart is already breaking and that was only a minute of the episode!

There’s going to be so many heartbreaking scenes in this episode: Jocasta mourning Murtagh, Jamie’s emotional fallout of losing his godfather, Brianna dealing with the loss of Roger. You guys, I cried for at least 20 minutes after watching Episode 7, I don’t even want to know how many tissues I’ll need for Episode 8!
