While we have to wait an extra week for the episode, we have the promo for Outlander Season 5, Episode 8. Here’s a break down with the top takeaways.

Outlander Season 5, Episode 8 won’t be here for an extra week, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a promo to break down. And what a promo it is!

There are a few bits you’ll spot if you look carefully. We can also assume a few things based on the wording—although remember that promos are cut in a way to sometimes be a little misleading to get you to watch.

Before we get into the breakdown, here’s a look at the promo. From this point, we will get a little teasery.

5. Jocasta will not feel right grieving

The start of the promo sees Jocasta telling Jamie that she and Murtagh were’t husband and wife. That doesn’t make the grief any less though. While Jocasta had an idea as to how it would all end, she was still in love with Murtagh. This is another person she let into her heart gone, and it doesn’t get any easier.

However, that doesn’t mean Jocasta will feel right for grieving. She has a husband waiting for her still alive.

4. Lord John Grey is back

There’s a moment where Bree is standing on the porch of the Big House and someone steps behind her. It looks like it could be Roger, but the shape actually looks more like Lord John Grey. Trust me; it took me a couple of watches to tell.

It makes sense that LJG would return. After all, he’s close friends with Brianna and only wants her to be happy. While we know that Roger will likely be alive, he’s not going to be in a great mental state and Bree will need someone to support her.

3. Governor Tryon recognizes he made a mistake

So, It turns out that Roger was changed under Governor Tryon’s orders. He’s the one that is actually admitted to a mistake.

He wants to gain forgiveness by granting Bree land. It’s not going to bring Roger back (whether from the dead or whatever mental state he is currently in) but at least he’s admitting a mistake. Most people with a narcissistic personality wouldn’t be able to admit that.

2. The Frasers may be in trouble

There’s a clip at the very end when Jamie, Claire, and Jemmy are in the foods. Jamie tells Claire to get back to the cabin. Jamie clearly feels like something is going on.

There seems to be a rustling sounds, but that could be just in the music. What could possibly be out in the street? Is it connected to the next point?

1. Somebody has taken poison

Claire asks Marsali about prescribing some water hemlock. For those who don’t know, water hemlock is one of the most poisonous plants in North America. It’s clear that someone has taken the root for malicious means. Maybe Claire just hoped that Marsali prescribed it accidentally instead of fearing the worst.

I’m not 100% sure why Claire would even have it in her surgery. Water hemlock was once used by the Native tribes to poison the tips of their spears. Could it be used medicinally in small amounts? That one I can’t figure out. (And I’m not a doctor, so I’m not even going to try!)
