3 best Roger moments on Outlander Season 5, Episode 7
Roger tried to convince Murtagh to stop the Regulators go to battle, but it ended badly. Here are the top Roger moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 7.
Okay, this was a big episode for Roger. Outlander Season 5, Episode 7 has started everything that we feared for the character, but let’s focus on some positives right now.
There were some excellent Roger moments throughout the episode, taking place in the first half of the episode for the most part. Here are the ones that I loved the most.
3. Remembering Morag
One thing that stood out as Roger saw Morag MacKenzie was his lack of knowledge of the 18th century. Sure, he knows about the period on paper, but he is still struggling with his actions and attitude. He hasn’t quite changed who he is, which leads me to why I love the scene with Morag so much.
You can physically see how uncomfortable Morag is around Roger. She’s constantly looking out for anyone who could see them talking. You see, nobody knows that Roger and Morag are related.
Plus, Roger is clearly too friendly with Morag. Time on the ship doesn’t make them best friends. It’s no wonder Buck MacKenzie didn’t like Roger right away.
2. Trying to convince Murtagh to change the Regulators’ minds
Roger volunteered to get to Murtagh to pass on the message about the Battle of Alamance. It was going to be a slaughter for the Regulators, even though they had more men than the British Army. Murtagh should know that having more men isn’t a guarantee to win. Just look at Prestonpans!
Fortunately, Murtagh knows that Roger is a time traveler like Claire and Bree. At least, we can assume that. It did mean Roger could pass on the message and make it clear that he knows how this will all play out.
Roger tries everything he can to get Murtagh to prevent the Regulators from going to war. Sadly, it’s all in vain.
1. His fear of leaving Jemmy without a father
The best Roger moment from Outlander Season 5, Episode 7 was right at the beginning. Roger sang to Jemmy, giving us a chance to hear his voice one more time, and then said goodbye to Brianna. Of course, the fear of death came up.
Roger knows what it’s like to lose his dad. He was young when his own dad died but remembers a little. Jemmy will remember nothing of Roger if something happens. Of course, Bree would keep Roger’s memory alive, but that doesn’t make Roger feel good about going to war. It’s scary even in the modern-day, let alone the 18th century.
I loved how we got to see this side of his character. He wasn’t going to not head out to war, but he didn’t want to.
