3 best Roger moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 6
While Claire and Jamie went to a wedding, Roger and Bree dealt with a Biblical plague. Here are Roger’s best moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 6.
Claire and Jamie had their own problems to deal with at Jocasta’s wedding, but they weren’t quite at the same level as the Biblical plague the MacKenzies handled. Roger had to hope a story his father told him was based on fact in Outlander Season 5, Episode 6.
There were some excellent Roger moments throughout the episode. This was certainly a chance to show that Roger is more than just a voice. It’s time to look at my three favorite moments.
3. Dealing with the panicked people
The people of Fraser’s Ridge were certainly panicked. All they could think of was the loss of their own crops. This was a timely episode, showing how people will look to protect their own instead of worrying about the people around them; without thinking about how their actions could affect others.
However, this moment was also perfect for Roger. He managed to stand up against the crowd, making it clear that burning Jamie’s crops wasn’t an option. He didn’t have an option right there and then, but he would figure one out.
2. Admitting his reasons for staying
It turns out the MacKenzies had been invited to the wedding. Well, that’s only natural. Obviously, Bree would have declined for Jemmy’s cold but Roger could have gone. While he said it was to help Bree, she knew better.
With a small smile, he basically admitted that he wanted to insult Jocasta. There is absolutely no love lost between the two of them. I do find it great for him, as he stands against convention and expectation. While sometimes he has to play the game, there are times he wants to take a stand for himself and his family.
1. Remembering a story from childhood
To help deal with the situation, Roger thinks back to a story from his childhood. It’s not clear which father he was talking about. He was just a baby when his biological father died, so I’m curious as to whether he meant Reverend Wakefield’s story. That would make sense.
Regardless, he still cherishes memories from the past. And it’s odd how some memories can come back. He managed to use the story to find a way to deal with the swarm of locusts.
