3 best Brianna moments from Outlander Season 5, Episode 4
Brianna and Marsali had time to bond in Outlander Season 5, Episode 4. Here are my three favorite Bree moments from The Company We Keep.
While the militia builds, Brianna is left behind at Fraser’s Ridge. During Outlander Season 5, Episode 4, she had the chance to bond with Marsali, but it wasn’t because they just wanted to hang out together. There’s a legitimate fear hanging over her head.
Brianna is an extremely strong character. She’s a rape survivor, and one set in a society where the rapist could come and claim his victim as his bride. Okay, not possible with Brianna legally married to Roger, but Stephen Bonnet could cause a major problem for the Frasers and MacKenzies.
Here are my three favorite Brianna moments from “The Company We Keep.”
3. Telling Lizzie to move up to the house
I don’t even know why Brianna hadn’t already suggested this. Considering how dangerous the North Carolina wilderness is, it would have made a lot of sense for Brianna to move to the Big House while everyone was away. Even without the threat of Bonnet, just being around other people would be safer.
Of course, she probably wanted to keep some of her independence. However, she’s admitting that there’s no shame in wanting to have safety in numbers.
2. Seeing her fears
Okay, this isn’t a great moment for Brianna, but I love that we have the chance to see this character development. It’s hard to show internal thoughts on screen and Sophie Skelton is killing it this season. You can tell exactly what she’s thinking when she hears about the Irish man who left Jemmy the coin.
It all continues throughout the episode, but it is the moment with the coin that stands out the most. You can tell without hearing the name who Brianna is sure they’ve come across. It may not even be the case, but it’s that reminder that Bonnet is out there somewhere.
1. Bonding with Marsali
After Jemmy goes missing (because he crawled into another room) and is found, Marsali decides it’s time to talk to Bree. She knows her sister-in-law is struggling with something. Of course, Bree won’t share exactly what it is, but that doesn’t stop Marsali from sharing her story of wishing her father dead.
One thing I’ve wanted in Outlander Season 5 is some bonding between Marsali and Brianna. I worried the show wouldn’t have time to include it, so I love that it was in Episode 4.
