Claire had some big moments throughout Outlander Season 5, Episode 4, with a major part of it involving what to do with the Beardsley baby abandoned at the end of the previous episode. It’s time to look back over her best moments from the episode.

This episode was one with a lot going on. Claire didn’t just have to figure out what to do with the baby, but also figure out whether the women in Brownsville were the right parents. And of course, there were moments with Jamie and Roger that certainly stand out.

3. Finding out about Dr. Rawlings Recommends

We knew Fergus had picked up a piece of paper that was going to have consequences. Fortunately, it seems like the paper didn’t have too many consequences. At least, not for now. Claire learned that her medical advice made it to the papers. While she doesn’t know why or how, she did have the sense to warn Jamie about it.

She knows this could have serious consequences in the future. Telling Jamie gives him the chance to keep an ear out should anyone mention looking for Dr. Rawlings.

2. Giving Roger a boost in confidence

At the very end, Jamie told Roger that he was heading back to the Ridge with Claire. To Roger, it came as a sign that Jamie doesn’t have any faith in him. And while there will certainly be some elements of that, Claire was able to give Roger a boost of confidence.

Claire pointed out that she’s extremely important to Jamie. There’s no way her husband would entrust just anyone with her and he’d take her back to the Ridge himself if he could. Getting Roger to accompany her shows a lot of trust and respect.

1. Wanting the best for the baby

Throughout Outlander Season 5, Episode 4, Claire had to figure out what to do with the abandoned baby. While she knew that she didn’t want to raise the baby herself (although she would have had that been the only option), she also wanted to make sure the baby ended up in the hands of the right people.

Claire knew that Marsali or Brianna would have likely taken the baby in. Instead, Claire found a grieving couple, and it was such a bittersweet change to the storyline in “The Fiery Cross.”
