2. The slow buildup to the Beardsley reveals

The entire episode was creepy, but we got some brilliant moments to build up to it. Whether it was Claire seeing the kittens on Kezzie’s pants or finding the notches on the wall, everything brought us to the big reveal of Mr. Beardsley’s stroke and Fanny torturing him.

Those who hadn’t read the books would have no idea how dark this part of the story could be. Those who had knew the story but didn’t know how it would play out on the show. The writers certainly did a brilliant job of it, in my opinion.

1. Paul Gorman taking on two roles

Okay, let me finish with praise for one actor in particular. It’s not really a moment but all about a performance. I wondered how the show would have one actor in two roles. Sure, it’s done all the time but wouldn’t it have been better for Outlander to find twins?

Well, I’m glad they opted for just Paul Gorman. We saw two very distinct characters. There’s no mistaking who is Kezzie and who is Josiah, even without the costumes telling them apart. I love seeing actors at work, and that’s what we get with the moment of the twins on the log together.
