Claire made a dangerous decision to put rocks in the coffin and keep the body on Outlander Season 5, Episode 2. Will those rocks come back to haunt her?
If there’s one thing we know for certain, it’s that Claire made a dangerous decision or two during Outlander Season 5, Episode 2. Whether you liked it or not, Claire and Roger put rocks in the coffin to keep the body on the table. Not it’s led to a question of what this could mean in the future.
Most TV shows would make this a plot point in the future. Someone, somehow, would find out that the body had never been buried. There would be a process of digging up the coffin to confirm it, leading to Claire being branded a witch or something similar.
Is that going to happen on Outlander? Well, unless the show writers decide to completely deviate from the book, it’s not likely! It would be an over-the-top storyline that would serve nothing. After all, there would be no way for Claire and Roger to wiggle out of this. And it’s not like it’s just a couple of our main characters involved. Marsali and Brianna would also be a part of it, along with a few others who work or live in the Big House.
There’s no need for the extra drama, especially when it wouldn’t suit the time period. I actually have no issue with Claire making the decision she did. Personally, I found it in character for the show’s version of Claire. What wouldn’t make sense is for people of the 18th century to dig up the coffin. Unless there was a major mystery or problem, there would be no need for the grave to be disturbed.
With so much other drama going on, I think the buried rocks in the coffin will remain there. We have a whole storyline with the militia coming up and Claire has moved on to making penicillin. There’s no time for the coffin to come back to haunt Claire.
