2. Trying to protect everyone

All Jamie wants is to make sure everyone is safe and looked out for. He wants to keep him family safe, but he understands the Regulators’ plight. So, he wants to make sure everyone is happy.

That’s not all that easy. After all, the Regulators clearly don’t really care about damaging the property of those who could be innocent people caught up in all this. They’re not ashamed for terrifying the townspeople.

However, Jamie tries not to hold a grudge. Instead, he sends the two living Regulators on their way. This could be the biggest mistake he’s made.

1. His reaction to hearing Murtagh being involved

Jamie thought that the Regulators were just acting out in Hillsborough. He could never imagine that Murtagh had something to do with this. It’s a shocking event that turns from a rebellious group of men to those who aren’t afraid or ashamed of committing violence.

You can see Jamie’s whole demeanor change. He thought that Murtagh would be against such actions, but learns that his godfather is no longer the man he once knew. Considering they spent so many years apart, it’s not surprising Murtagh has changed so much considering circumstances against him. Jamie just didn’t expect it.
