Outlander Season 5: What could the ‘Stephen King-esque’ horror episode be?

There’s going to be an Outlander Season 5 episode that is like something from Stephen King. What could that episode be based on The Fiery Cross?

Outlander has the ability to have an overarching story while offering some standalone stories within episodes. This has been the case from the beginning, so it’s likely that we’ll see that again in Season 5.

According to Radio Times, there’s going to be a “Stephen King-esque” horror episode. It’s led to many fans of the books trying to figure out which part will be turned into this horror episode. And while a moment involving Roger could be possible, there’s another that stands out more.

Of course, we’re getting into storylines from “The Fiery Cross.” If you haven’t read the book, there will be some storyline spoilers in this.

We know of one storyline that is going to pop up in Outlander Season 5. Bronwyn James was cast as Fanny Beardslay, which means that particular storyline is going to get attention. And it’s this storyline that I believe is going to be the horror episode.

It is a dark storyline, involving abuse and torture. Claire and Jamie learn that Fanny’s husband has suffered a stroke and Fanny has been “caring” for him. It’s more like she’s been making him suffer to get back at all the suffering she faced while married to him. Claire knows that as a doctor she should want to save this man, but there’s also part of her that doesn’t really want to.

This storyline does look into human feelings and reactions after abuse. In the books, it also involves ghosts, but it’s not clear if the show would bother with that to help keep the storyline contained to just one episode.

Whatever happens, I do think this is the storyline that will offer the “Stephen King-esque” horror. It’s something I’m looking forward to seeing purely to see James’ acting skills, because that storyline will take a lot of work.
