Could Outlander Season 5 include some of the Breath of Snow and Ashes storylines?

Outlander Season 5 is focused on the storylines from The Fiery Cross. Is it possible some or just one of A Breath of Snow and Ashes storyline will be used?

While Outlander Season 5 will be mostly focused on “The Fiery Cross,” there is always the chance we could see storylines from other books. More specifically, there’s a chance we could see a storyline or two from Book 6, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes.”

Caution: There are some spoilers for Outlander Book 6 if you haven’t read on yet.

There are many fans questioning the possibility, and it all comes from teases of the finale of the season. Caitriona Balfe had tweeted about lying in the wet grass for two days at the end of filming and we know that the finale will be difficult. It’s led to the suspicion that there’s a horrific Claire storyline from the sixth book that will show up.

During the sixth book, Claire and Marsali are abducted. Claire is beaten and raped, with her being left with her life somewhat in the balance. Jamie finds her and wants to seek vengeance, but he also needs to make sure she’s protected and able to deal with the trauma of the events.

A major theory is that the storyline will slightly change. Murtagh will be the one that goes out in search for vengeance, similar to the way he did in Outlander Season 2. Of course, in Season 2 he was trying to amend for the events that happened in Paris. Does that mean he’ll feel guilty for the attack and rape so that he heads out in search for vengeance again?

We could even find out that the attack happens at the end of the fifth season. This allows the storyline to continue into Outlander Season 6, which we know is definitely happening and is currently in pre-production.

With the show being renewed for two seasons, it means that some storylines can bleed. We can see storylines from Book 6 appear in Season 5, allowing for the storylines to spread out and add some foreshadowing. This also keeps everyone watching on their toes without “changing the books” too much.
