Outlander Season 5: Will Murtagh choose the Regulators over Jocasta?
It looks like Murtagh and Jocasta have a choice to make in Outlander Season 5. Will Murtagh decide to put the fight for freedom ahead of love?
The Outlander Season 5 trailer is here, and it shows some important clues of things to happen in the season. One of those is a quick clip of Murtagh and Jocasta.
We know that Murtagh has a big storyline coming up. He needs to lead the Regulators into their battle for freedom. However, that will mean leaving Jocasta behind. There is absolutely no way that she would give up her life at River Run. Not only has she become accustomed to it, but she’s also a MacKenzie and will think with her head more than her heart.
It looks like Murtagh will make the choice to leave Jocasta behind. Maybe he does it to save her the pain of decisions to come in the future. After all, being connected to Murtagh will be a death sentence for Jocasta, and he would never want to put her under that sort of threat.
Right now, Tryon is out for Murtagh’s blood. Jamie has been tasked with building a militia to stop the Regulators, namely one Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser. Whether Tryon knows of the family connection between Jamie and Murtagh is unclear, but he won’t care, either. Jamie made an oath to Tryon for land and now he has to live up to it.
Murtagh needs to remain in hiding while the Regulators plan their attacks. Even if you don’t know about “The Fiery Cross” storylines, you’ll know from history how the Regulator’s storyline will end. It’s not good. Think of Culloden’s ending. Right now, Murtagh is on the wrong side of history but soon, Jamie will find himself on the wrong side.
Jocasta and Murtagh have been fun while they lasted, but we always knew that Murtagh wasn’t replacing Duncan Innes. In fact, it looks like we’ll get Duncan Innes in Outlander Season 5, and Murtagh putting the Regulators before his love for Jocasta will certainly open the doorway for that relationship.
