There have been a few name changes when it comes to the co-executive producers and executive producers. What could they mean for Outlander Season 5?
With a new season comes a new set of opening credits. The Outlander Season 5 opening credits were gifted to us on Christmas Day. While we have thoughts about the new theme song and the clips used throughout the one-minute-30-second long credits, there are some name changes that you may or may not have noticed.
Of course, you were looking for Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s names when it came to the producer credits. They are there, and that made many happy. But there are other name changes that suggest a few changes to the writer’s room and the people making the top decisions.
For one, Karen Campbell’s name is no longer listed as one of the Co-EPs. She was one of the writers for the last couple of years and received a lot of unnecessary hate from a small minority of fans during the fourth season. Granted, her episodes of Season 3 were some of the poorest but that’s not necessarily her fault (it’s a team effort when it comes to crafting the ideas for the individual episodes). Campbell wrote one of the best episodes of Season 4, “Providence.”
It looks like the minority has led to her stepping back from the show. And in a way, I’m disappointed if that’s the case. I don’t like it when those who attack win, but I can completely understand why she’d choose to step back.
Steve Kornacki and Alyson Evans have been promoted to Co-EPs, which could hint they are two of the new writers. I guess we’ll find out soon.
There’s a certain executive producer missing from the credits. Matthew B. Roberts is now the last name for Outlander Season 5. Ron D. Moore’s name is missing. We know that he stepped back from the day-to-day running of the show, especially moving onto Apple TV Plus’ For All Mankind, but I thought his name would still show up in the main credits.
It will be interesting to see where his name does show up. Maril Davis is working on For All Mankind but is still included in the opening credits for Outlander, so could the lack of Ron’s name be a mistake?
