Do we need an Outlander subscription box?
Many fandoms have a subscription box, but there’s not one for the Outlander fans just yet. Do we need an Outlander subscription box?
There are many subscription boxes out there. You can get them for books, beer and wine, and multiple fandoms. Harry Potter, Supernatural, and even Friends fans can grab a subscription box. Is it time for an Outlander subscription box to head our way?
A subscription box usually comes monthly, every two months, or every quarter. The exact timing will depend on the individual and the company. For example, I get a DC superhero subscription box mailed out quarterly from CultureFly because that’s their plan but I get a yoga clothing box mailed out every two months by choice.
The box contains fandom items, usually with an item of clothing, a vinyl figure, and even a usable item like mug or glass tankard. The quality can be hit or miss depending on the company (and the specific item) but for the most part, they are good value for fans of the particular show or movie.
So, would Outlander fans benefit from them? It could be hit or miss with Sassenachs, and maybe that’s why it’s not been a subscription box offering. CultureFly did Game of Thrones but stopped after the show ended due to a lack of interest anymore. It could be possible that there isn’t enough interest.
There will be some out there who love the idea of a subscription box, and it could come with some excellent, unique items. I’m thinking scarves, gloves, shawls, tankards, shot glasses, and even beautiful dragonflies in amber figure sets. The world of Outlander is much larger than most other fandoms, especially when you consider the books.
So, with plenty of unique item ideas, there could be room for the subscription box idea. The question is whether people would buy it.
The Outlander-themed Wee Box was certainly popular among the fandom. But that was a one-off special. The Wee Box is fun for all things Scottish and capitalized on the fandom that adores Scotland. But would the fun be there for a box that was delivered quarterly within the same fandom?
