The Outlander Season 5 sneak peek gave us a chance to see Roger and Jamie bond. Here are five great things to take from it for Roger MacKenzie.

When Outlander Season 5’s premiere sneak peek jumped to the present day, we got a chance to see Jamie and Roger bond. While there are a lot of great things to take from the conversation between the two men, there are some great things to take from it for Roger alone.

For Day 23 of the 25 Days of MacBree-mas, we’re going to break down the sneak peek again. This time we’re looking just at Roger’s takeaways.

5. He’s nervous about his wedding day

We learn that Roger is getting ready for his wedding. It’s a nerve-wracking time for anyone, even those absolutely certain that they’re marrying the right person. There may not be questions about whether Roger is doing the right thing marrying Brianna, but everything to come after or whether he’ll make a fool of himself in front of people.

This is a glimpse of how he feels about Brianna. It’s a glimpse of how he wants to do everything just right.

4. He’s trying to bond with Jamie

There’s one thing to worry about in Outlander Season 5. That’s two men who don’t necessarily like each other or even really respect each other. Roger and Jamie are going to have to just put up with each other.

It’s clear that Roger wants to try to be a man about the situation. He wants to try to bond with Jamie, even if he knows Jamie doesn’t like him.

3. He’s resigning to remaining in the past

During Outlander Season 4, Roger and Brianna had plans to return to their own time. However, it’s clear that Brianna doesn’t want to leave. Roger, knowing he wants Bree, is resigning himself to remain in the past.

We get that glimpse when he talks about adding a loft space to the cabin. He’s willing to make permanent changes to show the thoughts of growing in the future.

2. He’s worried about his abilities in the past

Despite willing to stay, he knows that he doesn’t have many skills. This is something he talks about in Outlander Season 5’s sneak peek. He admits to Jamie that he doesn’t have the skills just yet, but that doesn’t mean he’s willing to resign to having others do it all for him. He wants to learn and figure things out. And he wants to find a place in this world.

1. He wishes he could offer Brianna more

Roger asked Murtagh to make Brianna a wedding ring. When he sees that it’s a silver ring, he’s shocked. He was just expecting brass or another cheap metal. After all, there’s not much more that he can offer.

And we get a glimpse of regret and wishes. He wants to offer Brianna more, but right now, he needs to reign to relying on Jamie and others.
