Outlander Season 5: Who is Isaiah Morton in The Fiery Cross?
Isaiah Morton was one of the characters cast in Outlander Season 5 last month. Who is the character and what role does he play in The Fiery Cross?
Outlander Season 5 will see more stories about the lives of individuals around Fraser’s Ridge. One of those individuals is Isaiah Morton, who will be portrayed by Jon Tarcy. For those who want to know more about the character before the fifth season or need a reminder of who he is, we’re looking at “The Fiery Cross” storylines to see how he fits in.
Naturally, this means spoilers from Outlander Book 5 for those who haven’t read that far yet. We won’t get into Book 6, though. Not only do we want to spoil as little as possible for those who watch the show first (or only), but we don’t know how much of the books the show will follow.
Isaiah Morton and the Browns
Morton is directly connected to the storylines of the Brown family. Roger and Fergus, gathering men for the militia, find Lionel and Richard Brown attempting to kill Morton. They believe that Morton has dishonored Lionel’s daughter, Alicia.
In their defense, Morton is a cheater. Despite being married, he started an affair with Alicia and later finds out that she is pregnant. He wants to do right by her, and the two run off together after the militia is disbanded.
Almost loss of life
Running away makes the Browns angrier than ever before. During the Battle of Alamance, the two shoot Morton in the back and believe they’ve killed him. Thankfully, Claire’s medical skills save Isaiah’s life.
Isaiah also has a will to live. He wants to be there for his child with Alicia. Alicia and the baby are all that’s important to him.
If the show sticks to the storyline, I think we’ll get two episodes involving Isaiah Morton and the Browns. We may get to see them a little more in the background, but they’ll be a focus for two episodes judging by the way the storylines will have to play out.
