Tobias Menzies has pulled many new fans into The Crown on Netflix. Will there be a fourth season of the Royal Family series?

Outlander fans had a show to watch this weekend to get through some of Droughtlander. The Crown Season 3 dropped, starring Tobias Menzies in the role of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Now that fans have enjoyed the latest 10 episodes, there are plenty of questions about the future. Will there be a fourth season of The Crown on Netflix?

There’s some excellent news about the series. There’s no need to wait around looking for answers. This isn’t a show where we’re on the fence about whether it will be renewed. After all, we know Netflix has a habit of canceling shows after two or three seasons.

When The Crown was renewed for a third season, it was also renewed for the fourth. The first two seasons have been a huge success for the streaming service, so, naturally, a two-season renewal made sense.

Will there be another change of cast? Not yet! Tobias Menzies will continue to play the role of Philip, while Olivia Colman will continue to take on the role of Queen Elizabeth. The plan from the very beginning was to change the cast every two years to show the age progression of the various characters.

Season 4 will be the last with Menzies, Colman, and others. It’s not clear who the next actors will be to take on the roles, nor is it even clear if there will be a fifth (and sixth, as Peter Morgan would like). However, at least we know we have another season.

When will The Crown Season 4 air? We’re looking at this time next year at the very earliest. However, 2021 is more likely.
